The GPA-Central Texas Senior Incentive Program is open to families who already have a greyhound or are approved by the board. The normal adoption process will be followed, but the adoption fee will be reduced. The GPA-CT Senior Incentive Program and benefits begin no earlier than February 17, 2009.
• Adoption Fee: The adoption fee will be reduced for senior greyhounds (8 years old or older) who are adopted through GPA-CT. Before being adopted, the senior greyhound will receive a teeth cleaning and a senior panel. The dog will also be microchipped.
• Initial Veterinary Stipend: GPA-CT will provide a one-time $150 allotment for veterinary services for each eligible senior greyhound. Adopters of these seniors will need to pay the original bills, but may then submit invoices for those services to GPA-CT for reimbursement. Invoices may be submitted as the service occurs or may be turned in when the $150 allotted limit has been reached. The allotment may be used for a variety of services such as routine check-ups, medications, lab work, heartworm preventive, etc., with the only stipulation being that they were received at a veterinary clinic or pharmacy. Invoices for reimbursement should be sent to:
Greyhound Pets of America-Central Texas
P.O. Box 10069
Austin, TX 78766
The clinic invoice must include the senior’s name and indicate that it is for the "Senior Incentive Program."
