volunteer opportunities

GPA-CT is organized and staffed solely by volunteers dedicated to finding responsible, loving homes for retired racing greyhounds. Volunteers are always needed with various projects and tasks. If you would like to help GPA-CT fulfill its mission, please contact any of the GPA-CT officers or board members.

CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES
Do you wish you could somehow spend a tiny speck of time doing good for the dogs you love? Well, wish no more!

Below you will find dates, times, and categories of interest for volunteer opportunity slots. Events Coordinator Angie Smith will take names and fill slots. Just email angie@gpacentraltexas.org or call 694-3223 to get your name on the volunteer calendar. Then, you can put your event on your own calendar and have a scheduled reason to hang out with a bunch of dogs! Additionally, you won’t continue to see the same old people doing all the volunteer work, you’ll be new and different, and will supply a needed break to the same-olds!

The volunteer calendar will be updated on the Web site with first names and last initials so you can see your volunteer event of choice. A reminder with detailed directions will appear in your inbox prior to the event so that you will feel confident as you step out with (or without) your best friend.

Finally, everyone who volunteers earns their greyhounds a free run at Speed Alley. What a deal!

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT EVENTS -- WITH DOGS
Dogtoberfest 2010 at The Domain • Dogtoberfest Austin official website
Saturday, Oct. 23 • 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

GPA-Central Texas is one of the official adoption groups for Dogtoberfest 2010 at The Domain on Saturday, Oct. 23. As one of the official groups, GPA-CT will share in the proceeds raised during the event. We'll need volunteers for the GPA-CT booth, as well as one or two volunteers to work with the Dogtoberfest organizers on the day of the event.

If you can volunteer with or without hounds at the GPA-CT booth, please contact Angie Smith at angie@gpacentraltexas.org.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT EVENTS -- WITHOUT DOGS
Dogtoberfest 2010 at The Domain
Saturday, Oct. 23 • 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

As part of our "contract" as an official adoption group of Dogtoberfest 2010, GPA-Central Texas must provide the event organizers with 1-3 volunteers who can be available either all day or part of the day to assist rescue groups and vendors with set-up, errands, booth sitting, break down, etc. GPA-CT benefitted from these "block captains" last year, and now it's our time to return the favor.

If you can volunteer without hounds for the event organizers on behalf of GPA-CT, please contact Donna Seago at donna@gpacentraltexas.org.
