THE REAL RANSOM III DVM EMERGENCY MEDICAL FUND

GPA-Central Texas lost a very devoted, long time friend when Dr. Real Ransom and his wife, Cindy, were killed in a plane crash near Houston on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005. Dr. Ransom, founder of Great Oaks Animal Hospital, had been closely associated with GPA-CT since 1992 when it was GPA-Austin. Over the years he was a very generous contributor to our adoption program, providing services for our dogs at a cost most veterinary hospitals would not approach.

Additionally, he provided information and support to many of our members and their companion greys. He is remembered for the warmth and compassion he gave, especially at times when it was his duty to give the bad news.

To honor his commitment and service to our greyhounds, the GPA-CT Board of Directors voted on October 18, 2005, to rename the permanent emergency medical fund “The Real Ransom III DVM Emergency Medical Fund.” All donations to the emergency medical fund are used exclusively for special needs greyhounds in foster care.

Contributions may be mailed to Greyhound Pets of America-Central Texas, P.O. Box 10069, Austin TX 78766. (Please note that the check is for the emergency medical fund.) You may also contribute online using the PayPal link at www.gpacentraltexas.org.
